Ps2 Still Alive

Ps2 Still Alive

It’s amazing, even though the next-generation consoles have already been released, there still seems to be a lot of life left in the PlayStation 2, at least in my opinion. Roughly three years after the first next-generation console was released, Xbox 360, I still feel like I have yet to play everything that I wanted to play for my PS2.

That’s a good thing. Since I still have interest in PS2 games, that also means that I can get them for dirt cheap prices. Something tells me that there are still a lot of people out there with just as much interest in their PS2 as I have with mine. How do I know this? Believe it or not, the PS2 still sells pretty well even to this day.

Rightly so. It has a ton of awesome games. These days, there are so many games being released (good ones too), that it almost feels like too many games are being released. Games I still want to play for my PS2 are: Metal Gear Solid 3, Devil May Cry 1, 2 and 3. Resident Evil 4, Silent Hill 4, Silent Hill 3, and the list just goes on and on. Oh yeah, God Of War.

Let’s face it, the next-generation consoles are expensive, and so are the games. This is a good opportunity though, because not only is the PS2 really cheap, but so are the games. This doesn’t even include the used games section. In my opinion, there’s never been a better time to be a gamer. I’ve purchased 3 software titles for my PS2 for fifteen dollars. Yes, only fifteen dollars! How much would a next-gen game cost? Fifty dollars or more! Huge difference.

So, if you have a PS2, stop letting it collect dust because now you know there’s a lot more life inside of it. For those that are still on the fence of which video game console to buy, well, now you know. Get out there and buy a PS2, and for less than half the price of a next-gen console, I might add.

Databases and Maintaining Their Uptime

Databases and Maintaining Their Uptime

Databases provide a convenient means of storing vast amounts of information, allowing the information to be sorted, searched, viewed, and manipulated according to the business needs and
goals. A computer database relies upon software to organize the
storage of data. The software models the database structure in
what are known as database models. The model in most common use today is the relational model. Other models such as the hierarchical model and the network model use a more explicit
representation of relationships (see below for explanation of the various database models).

The first database management systems were developed in the 1960s. A pioneer in the field was Charles Bachman. Bachman’s early papers show that his aim was to make more effective use of the new direct access storage devices becoming available: until then, data processing had been based on punched cards and magnetic tape, so that serial processing was the dominant activity.

While storing data is a great feature of databases, for many database users the most important feature is quick and simple retrieval of information. In a relational database, it is extremely easy to pull up information regarding an employee, but relational databases also add the power of running queries. Queries are requests to pull specific types of information and either show them in their natural state or create a report using the data. For instance, if you had a database of employees and it included tables such as salary and job description, you can easily run a query of which jobs pay over a certain amount. No matter what kind of information you store on your database, queries can be created using SQL to help answer important questions.

Databases can be very small (less than 1 MB) or extremely large and complicated (terabytes as in many government databases). However, all databases are usually stored and located on hard disk or other types of storage devices and are accessed via computer. Large databases may require separate servers and locations, but many small databases can fit easily as files located on your computer’s hard drive.

Obviously, many databases store confidential and important information that should not be easily accessed by just anyone. Many databases require passwords and other security features in order to access the information. While some databases can be accessed via the internet through a network, other databases are closed systems and can only be accessed on site.

The need for database maintenance is unavoidable, so enterprise data availability software solutions have been created to help businesses reduce downtime from hours or days to mere minutes or even seconds. Effective database management applications can
reduce or eliminate downtime that renders a database unavailable, giving business owners and developers a flexible and powerful tool to protect the performance of their valuable business operations.

Companies which provide enterprise data availability software and services help businesses manage their databases by offering services such as backup and recovery, automation of maintenance tasks, and fine tuning performance efficiency, among others. With an assessment of current database maintenance practices, enterprise data availability companies can recommend the appropriate system to implement that can solve the database management shortfalls of most organizations, playing a valuable role in the protection and longevity of their clients.

Main Cause of Data Loss Human Errors

Main Cause of Data Loss- Human Errors

Data loss is a reality which is hard to admit. Many companies are going out of their business as they experience severe computer disaster. The other face of the data loss can be considered as the psychological and emotional chaos, mainly occurring to the IT managers and business owners. This involves despair, panic and the rush to the completing the work. In other words, the human errors contribute to one of the two largest contributing factors of data loss.

Together with the mechanical failure, this side of data loss accounts for almost 75 percent of data loss incidents and hence more demanding for data recovery. The human has itself turned out the factor of reliability of disk drives. A considerable proportion of the human errors constitute when he/she fails to implement the adequate backup procedures or doesn’t take the backup at all. owever accidental deletion constitutes a separate part.

Sometimes, the problem gets started prior to the system error is made. This is when the users o for the out-of-box solutions, which may be not apt for their organizational needs. But if any human error is caused then this can be traced back by acting wisely and precisely. Let us say, in case of disaster has stroked your RAID then you need to pack up it in plastic bags instead of doing some unexpected things like freezing the hard drives.

When the disaster strikes, the most obvious reaction from the human side is panic. This is due to the reason that the data which has got lost has significant and critical consequences over the business. This is the case when the most competent IT staff can jump into inappropriate actions. A complete black out at this critical period of time can lead to the series of the native decisions, in which each of them add up to the preceding errors.

In many of the cases, this has also been seen that the IT specialists are typically not equipped to handle these conditions and suitable data recovery techniques. So when the significant physical damage has inurred then turn to the data recovery professionals. They will act as the innovative problem solvers.

However if the problem is not so critical and related to just some deletion, application or system software problems then data recovery software would be a great help. They can be applied at the user level and do not require any technical help.

Data recovery professionals draws a wealth of experience and follow ‘never to say die’ attitude. The companies providing the data recovery services through the professional’s help triage process sets priorities like which files are needed first or which are vital for the functioning of the business.

Successful data recovery companies hinge on a combination of the innovative logistics, technology triage and apt techniques for handling different storage devices. But if the users have ensured the minimization of data loss then data recovery would be less demanded through either of the wy.

br>In case of data loss, choose for the best one. Error may incur at this point of time also if the incorrect decision has been taken. Try to choose the data recovery company which is facilitating you both the data recovery solutions: data recovery software and data recovery service.

Stellar Information Systems Limited is the data recovery company which is able to provide you both the data recovery solutions. In the data recovery category, the software are available for the operating systems like Windows, Macintosh, UNIX, Linux and Novell. These data recovery software can scan the hard drive with much efficiency and thus retrieving the data safely and completely.

The data recovery service is provided in Class 100 Clean Rooms. This environment is best suited for the safe opening and handling the affected storage device. The data recovery experts have all the knowledge, skill and tools for ending the safe data recovery.

Network Time Protocol NTP The Way it Works

Posted on July 24th, 2008 in Computer Information by Global Marketing - Internet Marketing

Network Time Protocol (NTP): The Way it Works

Network Time Protocol (NTP) is probably the Internet’s oldest protocol. Developed at the University of Delaware, it has been in use and continually updated for the last 25 years. In short it is a protocol designed to synchronize the clocks on computers and networks across the Internet or Local or Wider Area Networks (LANs/WANS).

NTP is a multi-tiered system, each tier being called a stratum. Servers at each tier communicate with each other (peer) and provide time to lower strata. Servers at the top stratum, stratum 1 connect to an atomic clock either over the Internet or by a radio or GPS receiver while a stratum 2 server will connect to a stratum 1.

The way NTP works is relatively straight forward. NTP timestamps relay the seconds from a set point in time (known as the prime epoch, usually set at 00:00 1 January 1900 or sometimes 00:00 1 January 1970) The NTP algorithm then determines the amount to advance or retreat the clock.

The NTP program (known as a daemon on UNIX and a service on Windows) runs in the background and refuses to believe the time it is told until several exchanges have taken place, each passing a set of tests. If the replies from a server satisfy these ‘protocol specifications’, the server is accepted. It usually takes about five good samples (five minutes) until a NTP server is accepted as a source for synchronisation.

NTP can synchronise time over the Internet but it should be noted that Microsoft and others recommend that external time references are used rather than Internet based ones as these can’t be authenticated. External hardware sources use either a radio or GPS receiver to get a timing reference from an atomic clock.

NTP (currently up to version 4) can maintain time over the Internet to within 1/100th of a second (10 milliseconds () and can perform even better over Local Area Networks with accuracies of 1/5000th of a second (200 microseconds) fairly common.

A simplified version of NTP called Simple Network Time Protocol (SNTP) exists that does not require the storing of information about previous communications as required by NTP. It is used in some devices and applications where high accuracy timing is not as important and is installed on older versions of Microsoft Windows. Windows since 2000 has included the Windows Time Service (w32time.exe) which uses SNTP to synchronise the computer clock. NTP is also available on UNIX and LINUX (download via NTP.org).
