Starting the New School Year with Italian Charms
Ah…Fall is upon us. The morning hours are crisp and clear. The leaves are beginning to turn. The temperatures outside feel cooler and drier. Birds gather above in flocks, practicing for their southern flight. An underlying feeling of the anticipation of change is almost palpable. This can only mean one thing to my kids: classes will be beginning again. Pupils are anxious to return to routine; to challenge their minds; to experience fresh adventures; to be around friends. Parents are just as excited.
This has been a summer of significant change for our us. Because of my career, I have been transferred to another state. What was at first very exciting for my children in exploring their new environment, now is becoming daunting in their anticipation of entering a new school. Their apprehension looms, not in the educational sense, but as far as finding new friends and being socially accepted. I have given both of my kids a present to let them know how important and unique they are and to try to increase their confidence. These gifts are Italian charms.

car, a couple of NASCAR-themed charms, and even an old jalopy of a car to add dimension and bring a smile. I can picture my son rubbing this keychain for luck and using its theme to converse with others about his avid interest.
I have chosen an Italian charm bracelet for my daughter. She can wear it with all of her wardrobe choices. She can look at it and be reminded of more secure times.
