Well-known for its historical buildings, parks and monuments, Lexingtonis a town in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States.
First settled in 1642 as the Cambridge Farms parish of Cambridge, Massachusetts, Lexington was incorporated as a separate town in 1713. There have been speculations of how the name was derived. Some people say that it was named in the honor of Lord Lexington while others say it was named after Laxton in Nottinghamshire, England.
Lexington has always been a farming community and has been providing much of its produce to Boston. Lexington’s downtown area is known to be one of the busiest places till today.
Due to the high-tech boom in 1960s and 70s, Lexington experienced a jump in population. Property values escalated and the school system got positive reviews all over United States.
The first battle of the American Revolutionary War was fought in Lexington. Lexington observes Patriots’ Day on the third Monday of April annually.
